Express Benefits

Unlike our standard Driver Education Course, the Express Driver Program is designed for students who want to complete their training as quickly and efficiently as possible while maintaining the same high standard of professional instruction.

Priority Lesson Scheduling

Express students receive priority when booking in-car driving lessons. Whenever possible, lessons are scheduled ahead of standard bookings to reduce wait times and help students complete their training sooner.

Flexible Scheduling Around Your Availability

We work around your availability whenever possible. Whether you're available during weekdays, evenings, weekends, or specific days, we'll build a lesson schedule that helps you complete the course quickly while fitting your lifestyle.

Accelerated Course Planning

Your training schedule is planned from the beginning with one goal in mind—completing your Driver Education Course as efficiently as possible. Lessons are organized to minimize unnecessary delays while providing enough practice between sessions for continued improvement.

Express Training Timeline

Students may begin their 25-hour online classroom training before or during their in-car lessons. To begin in-car training, students must first complete the minimum online requirements established by East Coast Driving Academy (currently 5 hours of online training and 2 hours of classroom instruction). Once these requirements have been met, students may begin their in-car lessons while continuing to complete the remaining online training.

Mock Driving Assessment

After approximately 6 hours of in-car training, your instructor will conduct a Mock Driving Assessment to evaluate your readiness for the official road test. If your instructor determines that you are ready, our office will schedule your road test at the earliest available appointment. The remaining 4 hours of training are then used to:

Strengthen your driving confidence
Correct any mistakes identified during the assessment
Practice challenging driving situations
Fine-tune your skills before the official road test

This structured approach helps maximize your confidence and improve your chances of passing your road test on the first attempt.

Road Test Vehicle Included

The Express Driver Program includes the use of one of our training vehicles for your scheduled road test (subject to availability). Whenever possible, you'll complete your road test using the same vehicle you trained in, helping you feel more comfortable and confident on test day.

Additional Driving Lessons

Most students complete the Express Driver Program within the scheduled 10 hours of in-car training. However, if your instructor recommends additional practice—or if you would like extra training to build confidence—additional driving lessons can be added at our standard rate.

Additional Lesson Rate: $60.00 per hour
HST applies

Additional lessons are optional unless recommended by your instructor for safety or road-test readiness.

Driver Education Certificate & GDL Benefits

Approved by Access Nova Scotia & the Registry of Motor Vehicles

Upon successful completion of our 35-Hour Driver Education Course, students receive an official Driver Education Certificate approved by Access Nova Scotia / Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV). This certificate allows eligible students to complete Nova Scotia's Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program sooner while also providing additional insurance and licensing benefits.

Eligible to exit the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program after 9 months instead of waiting 12 months
Present your certificate to Access Nova Scotia after successfully passing your road test to have your licence updated
Recognized across multiple Canadian provinces, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, and Alberta (subject to each province's licensing requirements)
May qualify graduates for insurance discounts through participating insurance providers

Nova Scotia Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL)

Nova Scotia's Graduated Driver Licensing Program helps new drivers gain experience before receiving a full Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Learner's Licence

Before beginning in-car training, students must first obtain a Learner's Licence by successfully completing the written knowledge test and vision test at Access Nova Scotia.

Newly Licensed Driver (N)

After successfully passing your road test, you will enter the Newly Licensed Driver (N) stage. During this stage:

The "N" remains on your licence for 2 years
Driving between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. is restricted unless an approved exemption applies
You may request a work-related exemption through Access Nova Scotia if required by your employer
You must continue following all Graduated Driver Licensing rules

Restricted Individual (R)

After successfully completing the N Stage, you automatically advance to the Restricted Individual (R) stage. During this stage:

The R Stage remains on your licence for 2 years
The primary remaining restriction is that you cannot supervise another learner driver
You continue gaining driving experience before qualifying for a full licence

Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Process

After successfully completing the R Stage, you automatically receive your Full Class 5 Driver's Licence. Benefits include:

No additional licensing fees
No Graduated Driver Licensing restrictions
Full Class 5 driving privileges throughout Canada

Important Information

Graduated Driver Licensing requirements are established by Access Nova Scotia / Registry of Motor Vehicles and may change over time. Students are encouraged to review the latest provincial requirements or contact our office if they have questions regarding licensing or certificate eligibility.

Course Completion

To successfully complete the online portion of the Driver Education Course, students must:

Complete all 25 hours of required training
Successfully finish all required lessons and quizzes
Achieve a minimum passing grade of 80%

Lesson Options

Five 2-Hour Lessons

Complete your in-car training in approximately 1–2 weeks while maximizing driving time and minimizing travel interruptions.

Ten 1-Hour Lessons

A flexible option for students with busy schedules, typically completed in 2–3 weeks.

Road Test Preparation

Every student receives road test preparation designed to build confidence before the exam. Training includes:

Final driving assessment

Cancellation Policy

Free cancellations or rescheduling with 24 hours' notice. Emergency cancellations may be accommodated at the discretion of the instructor or school. Missed lessons or late cancellations without sufficient notice will be deducted from your remaining lesson hours.

Flexible Payment Options

We offer flexible payment plans to make learning to drive more affordable while keeping the enrollment process simple and transparent.

Payment Schedule

50% payment is required to begin the course
The remaining balance must be paid before course completion and certificate issuance

Refund Policy

Refund requests are processed in accordance with our Sales & Refund Policy.

Before Online Course Access: Students who cancel before accessing the online course are eligible for a full refund.
After Online Course Access: Once the online course has been activated, a $100 administration fee will apply. Course access will be revoked, and the remaining balance will be refunded.
In-Car Lessons: If in-car lessons have been booked, the remaining unused lesson balance may be refunded, subject to a $50 administration fee.
Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Less than 24 hours' notice for an in-car lesson will result in the loss of that scheduled lesson.
Outstanding Balances: Driver Education Certificates will not be issued until all outstanding balances have been paid in full.

Students who prefer a female instructor may request one during registration.

If a female instructor becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, students may:

Request a refund for the unused portion of their female instructor service
